Prince Harry gushed over his new wife Meghan Markle in a speech which left guests in tears.
Details of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding reception have remained private, but the newlyweds enjoyed a star-studded event with friends and family gathering to celebrate their marriage.
And according to reports, Harry’s touching speech to Meghan left guests emotional just hours after the pair tied the knot at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.
According to The Sun Harry told Meghan that he thought they made a “great team” and that he “can’t wait to spend the rest of his life” with the former actress.
Appearing to discuss the dramatic events leading up to their wedding, in which her father Thomas Markle pulled out of walking her down the aisle, Harry added: “You’ve navigated everything with such grace.”
The Daily Star Sunday revealed that guests at the reception were treated to a performance by Elton John, after the close friend of Harry’s mother Princess Diana was personally invited to the ceremony.
The legendary musician is said to have serenaded the newlyweds with his classic hit Your Song.
Prince Charles’ speech towards this son is also said to have left guests feeling teary-eyed, as he shared his delight for his newly-married youngest child.
“There was no mention of Diana in the speeches. Charles spoke about feeding Harry a bottle and changing his nappy, and then said look how well he turned out. That’s about as embarrassing as it got,” one guest revealed.
“He ended it by calling him ‘My darling old Harry, I’m so happy for you,’ which was very sweet. He said he was very pleased to be asked to walk Meghan down the aisle and happy to help out.”
“Essentially it was just about how Harry was a child and growing up. And now just about the couple and how beautiful they are together.”
Later in the evening Meghan Markle changed into a second gown, a bespoke Stella McCartney ensemble, before the newlyweds traveled to Frogmore House in a converted open-top Jaguar.
